Filip Welna originally hails from the picturesque historic city of Cracow in Poland. Emigrating at the age of fifteen with his family he has called Perth home for the past 15 years. Photography has been a life long passion ever since receiving a "Smiena", a simple Russian made rangefinder , as a 7 year old.

Filip strives for honest portrayals of his subjects with close attention to composition and style. Excelling at candid photography, Filip enjoys capturing the spontaneous believing that these moments are often the most insightful into a person's spirit and vitality; as well as their feelings at a particular moment in time. Always striving to produce original images, he enjoys the challenges and opportunities associated with using natural light and has a keen eye for colour and those small but all important details.

Filip Welna Photography's motto "vision, artistry, excellence" effectively sums up Filip's approach to all of his photographic work. From initially taking the shot to the final printed image Filip meticulously ensures that each print meets his high, demanding standards. According to Filip, photography is not just a medium it is also an art form and consequently he oversees every stage of a photographs development. He processes all digital images personally and only prints on a professional  studio photo printer, allowing him complete control over a photo's final appearance.
